<p><strong>Lecturer II</strong></p>
<p>A candidate to be appointed as Lecturer II shall normally possess a PhD, in addition to possessing a least a Second Class (Upper Division) degree in the relevant field.</p>
<p>A candidate who has an M.Phil. qualification may be appointed as Lecturer II provided the candidate has a substantial number of publications as well as adequate research and teaching experience in the university will be linked with our sister University to have PhD.</p>
<p><strong>Assistant Lecturer</strong></p>
<p>A good masters degree who must be ready to register with our sister university for PhD programme will be appointed.</p>
<p><strong>SALARY PACKAGE</strong></p>
<p>Salary and allowances which are personal and negotiable are higher than Federal Government consolidated unitary salary structure. Salary increment is based on productivity and contribution to the development of the university.</p>
<p><strong>RETIREMENT &amp; PENSION SCHEME</strong></p>
<p>The university operates a contributory pension fund i.e. 7<sup>1</sup>/<sub>2 </sub>the by the university and 7<sup>1</sup>/<sub>2</sub> by the staff.</p>

</strong></p>
<p><strong>TEACHER  (<em><strong>2-year  renewable contract</strong></em>)</strong></p>
<p><em><strong>DUTIES</strong></em></p>
<p>Successful  candidate will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Be responsible for the education and  welfare of the Grade I pupils;</li>
<li>Plan and prepare courses and  lessons following the programmes already in place</li>
<li>Assess, record  and report on the progress of the pupils;</li>
<li>Maintain a  well-ordered teaching area;</li>
<li>Be responsible for and participate  in two afternoon clubs;</li>
<li>Operate the class timetable as agreed  with the Head;</li>
<li>Any other duties as may be assigned by the Head</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS  AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p>
<p>B.Ed. or first degree plus PGDE.  Candidate must be child centred and experienced in enquiry-based  teaching approach.</p>
<p>Possession of teaching skills in French,  German or any other language plus musical skills is added advantage.</p>
<p><strong>Position</strong></p>
<p><strong>FOREMAN, AUTO-ELECTRICAL</strong> <em><strong>(2-year renewable contract)</strong></em></p>
<p><em><strong>DUTIES</strong></em></p>
<p>Successful candidate will among other things:</p>
<ul>
<li>Diagnose  and proffer solutions to identified problems on both petrol powered and  diesel operated automotives;</li>
<li>Use OBD II equipment to  troubleshoot auto electrical defects on SUV automotives;</li>
<li>Repair  and fix defective kick starters;</li>
<li>Repair Alternators;</li>
<li>Align  generally, auto electrical wires;</li>
<li>Prepare electrolyte and  charge many accumulators using series connections.</li>
<li>Carry out  quality checks on vehicles repaired in the workshop;</li>
<li>Ensure good  house-keeping and safety compliance at all time and</li>
<li>Perform any  other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS  AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p>
<p>BSc/HND Mechanical Engineering  (Automobile) with 5 years or ND plus 10 years relevant working  experience in a large Auto-electrical workshop.</p>
<p>Successful  candidate must be knowledgeable in work planning and shop floor  organisation and be able to perform under pressure and deliver timely  results.</p>
<p>Candidate must be committed, resourceful, honest and  must possess very outstanding leadership qualities.</p>

<p>NEW INITIATIVE FOR NIGERIA HIGHER EDUCATION</p>
<p>Massachusetts Institute of Technology international science and technology initiatives (MISTI) together with its corporate partners Total and Google announces a new “Empowering the Teachers” project to enable the outstanding young Nigerian faculty in science and engineering to collaborate with faculty at MIT in developing new curriculum and teaching methods.</p>
<p>Professor Akintunde Akinwande, professor of Electrical Engineering and computer science at MIT is the Director of the MISTI Africa “Empowering the Teachers” and he along other faculty at MIT will welcome Nigerian colleagues in their classrooms.</p>
<p>In its first year, “Empowering the Teachers” will select up to 10 outstanding young faculties from the disciplines of electrical engineering, computer science and computer engineering in Nigerian universities to spend a semester at MIT. They would observe instructions in their fields and works as a group to prepare innovative curricula and approaches to teaching that can be introduced into their home universities on their return. In future years, the program plans to extend into Mechanical engineering, earth and planetary sciences, Geology, Geophysics, ocean engineering and materials sciences.</p>
<p>“Empowering the Teachers” will cover the travel, living and instructional materials expenses of the participants. The home universities of the successful applicants will commit to provide paid leaves of absence during the of the MIT program.</p>
<p>During their stay, they would work on new curricula materials and teaching approaches for adoption in their own classes. They would participate regularly in at least two MIT subjects (including recitation and tutorials) that correspond to the courses the faculty members teach at their home universities. They would attend weekly Africa Fellows seminars meeting on curriculum development and meet with Professors and teaching assistants.</p>
<p>“Empowering the Teachers” welcomes applications from all qualified faculty.</p>
<p>To be eligible for selection consideration,</p>
<p>A faculty member must hold a PhD and teach in a department corresponding to Electrical Engineering and Computer science. Only candidates on the level of lecturer one rank would be considered.</p>
